Some one backed up in to my car and broke the back right tail light.?

The build is just fine but the plate cover thing has a hold in it. Is this some thing I can buy a new piece and change myself or do I need to see a mechanic? I have a 92 Honda civic hatchback.

You can go to ebay and buy a new back right tail light for as low as $16. Make sure you buy from sellers with high sales and no negative feedback.

Then go to your local auto parts store online and enter your year and model to find replacement bulbs for your tail light. Print a copy for price confirmation when you visit the local auto parts store for pickup. They can cost anywhere from $10 and up.

Your owner's manual will not have any information on how to replace this part of your car. You will need to buy a Honda Civic Service manual for your year and model (official Honda Civic manuals are best) to get good reference and step by step instruction on how to replace this piece.

All you'll need is a socket wrench and the right size sockets for the bolts to complete this job. Lift open your trunk and look behind the tail light to see the bolts that will need to be removed.

After you've removed the bolts, remove the wire harness. Remove your broken taillight and prepare your new taillight with the new bulb installed.

Attach the new tail light and bolt it securely. Reattach the wire harness and test your new tail light for proper functionality.

Good luck!

try a junkyard, they may have a tailight to fit your car
you probably have to get it through a honda dealer, but you should be able to change it yourself.
