"Why do the tail lights remain on if the car and lights are off?"?

its on a 91 totota corolla, also the blinkers dont flash, they still make the blinking sound though.this all happened after the guy at autozone changed my tail light bulb.
%26quot;Why do the tail lights remain on if the car and lights are off?%26quot;?
he probole installed the wrong kind of bulb.

Take it back to auto zone and let them figure it out.
there is a brake switch at the brake pedal. it could be be broke and might need replacing
If a wrong bulb is installed, it could put everything else on the fritz. Autozone guys are there to help you pick the part you need, not install it, thats why they don't work at a shop. Ask them too look up the tailight number needed and compare it to the one that was replaced. Also, this may not pertain to your car but old import vehicles are notorious for lighting electrical issues called %26quot;return to ground%26quot; meaning multiple circuits have failed and are allowing current to go through.
check all of your fuses... your manual should indicate where to find them.

remove the fuse from its position and observe it... if the metal link (you can see this if you look at the side of the fuse) is still connected and disconnected, the fuse is ok... if the metal is %26quot;blown%26quot; or broken in half... the fuse needs to be replaced... i'd give that a look.. doesn't take much time.

(btw.. there should be a fuse-remover tool in one of the fuse+relay boxes under your hood... use that to remove the fuses.. it makes life a lot easier...)
