also,I notice my reverse lights don't come on, and it's not the fuse, had that tested already, and not the bulbs
Tail lights/battery change?
THEN REPLACE THE SWITCH ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT CONTROLS THE REAR LIGHTS.
Tail lights/battery change?
it is probably just an electrical conntection somewhere. do continuity check with a multimeter and track the wire to find a break or a bad ground
the switch on the transmission that %26quot;tells%26quot; the light to come on

93 Honda civic tail light out
Is there a special bulb for this car or can I go to Auto Zone and get it?
ALSO- will they change it out?
93 Honda civic tail light out
Im not familar with civics, but yes, auto zone will be able to find the bulb size that you'll need and if they're super nice may help you install it. if not, most tail lights that ive seen are accessible from the trunk. you may have to pull the carpet (if present) back little bit, but you should be able to get to the socket. some bulbs will sockets will twist in to lock others may be held in my clips. should be pretty straight forward though.
best of luck!

How do I remove the tail light from a 2004 Cavalier?
I own a 2004 Chevy Cavalier and I need to replace the rear Driver side turn light, but for some reason I am unable to get the bulb loose. Any ideas as to how I can get the bulb loose so I can change the bulb without any damage occuring?
How do I remove the tail light from a 2004 Cavalier?
pull out the socket and twist the bulb out, if it won't come out apparently it has gotten water in there and rusted and if you can't get it out you will have to clip the wires off and get a new socket at the dealer or junk yard.
How do I remove the tail light from a 2004 Cavalier?
yea..you have to pull the lamp assembly out 3 10mm nuts..for some reason they didnt leave enough room to twist the socket out
OPEN THE TRUNK REMOVE CARPET AROUND LIGHT THEN REMOVE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE BULB

Have you ever had a dream that came true?
When I was a kid (about 10 years old), I had a dream that they changed the tail lights on volkswagens beetles from all red to the red/amber/white combination that they are right now. I know it sounds like I'm making it up, but I'm not. It's the absolute truth.
Have you ever had a dream that came true?
Yes I had a dream that A woman at a hospital had triplets all of whom where blind. Then a week later I woke up and turned the TV on and found out a lady had had triplets and they where all blind. Trust me i am not making it up. I have been having dream like that for years That was just the most resent.
Have you ever had a dream that came true?
In about December, i had a dream that I was going to a camp and it seemed like it was summer. At the end of July, I AM going to camp!!
yes.
it happened twice to me already. i happened to see a city I haven't been there before. After 1 week, I was already in that city and then I realized that lucid dream of a city that I saw 1 week prior was the same city I was now seeing.

I dreamed that my grandmother died even though she had no illnesses at the time. 4 days later she died (her stomach ruptured and she bleed to death in her sleep).
Two months latter I dreamed that her ex-husband died. 6 Days later he died.
Five weeks later I dreamed that her husband died. He starved to death because he refused to eat because his family was going to put him in a home.
One year later I dreamed my uncle died. Within days he died because he aspirated into his lungs while suffering from the flu.

yes one night i dreamt that my friend cheryl was coming to visit and the next morning exactly as it was in my dream she turned up!!

Never.
I went to sleep after failing to figure out a programming problem in Turbo Pascal.
I tossed and turned all night having a dream I was typing endless lines of code.
At about 4am the program worked in my dream and I could finally sleep.
When I woke up the solution I dreamed of was the one that worked and it only took 15 minutes to get the program running.
If that was the case, I'd be the happiest person on earth.
i have this recurring dream that I'm trying to find shoes for my sister and i have to ask Hitler for shoes, but he wont listen to me b/c he is busy playing with a palm pilot at a kiosk
but that dream never came true
Nothing like that has happened to me, but I have heard of many people who have had the same type of experience! I think it is so amazing!
I do experience deja vu quite often though and I'm amazed by that too
Yes. When i was about 10 I used to go to the swimming pool alot but I couldn't swim. One night I dreamt I was swimming under water, just gliding effortlessly and feeling the cool clear water rippling past my body. It was so clear and real I just knew what it was like to be swimming. The next day I went to the pool and acted out my dream and it really happened. I learnt to swim from a dream. (It's taken a long time to develop into a good swimmer though).
Absolutely, several times. I seem to be able to know when it is 'one of those' dreams and when it is not normal jumble. The problem is that I never get a specific time when the things I dream are going to happen. So, therefore, I just wait. There is no way to prepare. I used to never tell someone in case I was wrong. Now I tell someone, just so that there is someone who believes me. I have people who know I do this say 'What should we do to warn people?%26quot; I tell them that there is nothing we can do....I don't know when. And then it just happens. It only ever involves people and places that I know personally. Not in the rest of the world.

94 Accord dash lights not working but tail lights ARE working?
I was driving and i realized HEY my dash lights arent on! I might have kicked a fuse when I got out because it doesnt have a cover but Ive read that if that fuse is out then both your tail lights and dash lights are out but my tail lights are fine. also ive read about the knob that changed intesity of the lights but thats not the problem. I just have no idea. Does anyone know if this is a certain fuse and which number it is? or ANY HELP??!?!?!
94 Accord dash lights not working but tail lights ARE working?
It has to be a blown fuse are the dimmer wheel (button) has been turned (pushed) You need to check both fuse boxes ,the one under the hood and the one under the dash.

Why is my bearded dragon changing colour?
She is about 3 yrs old and in the last week her feet and tail have been changing to a darker brown. It doesn't change throughout the day or get lighter. She is eating, active, the temp is right in the cage and nothing has been changed in the cage for her to be stressed.
Why is my bearded dragon changing colour?
My daughter and I adopted a bearded dragon 4 years ago and the same thing happens from time to time. It is especially common at this time of the year..even though the temps in the tank appear to be the same, chances are the temps in your house are getting cooler. They can feel that slight temperature drop and they become darker to absorb more heat from their heat source (heat pad, lights, etc..). I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to spread throughout her body, then I would contact a vet, but for right now, chances are she is just sensing the change of seasons.
Why is my bearded dragon changing colour?
she's probably just shedding her skin, all reptiles do this, and some crustaceans, i didn't know what'd happened when a second crayfish appeared in my tank!
lol
hope this helped.
also, just wanted to add, the reason why you mightn't find her other skin if that is the case...she probably would have eaten it.

My turn signal is not working. I tried changing the bulb and it still does not work.?
The tail light works and the other turn signal and tail light works fine.
My turn signal is not working. I tried changing the bulb and it still does not work.?
If all the other indicator lamps are working then it must be either a dirty bulb holder or a bad wireing connection. Is the bulb holder rusty, if so you may need a new lamp. Try wriggling the wires going into the lamp unit it may be a bad connection here.
My turn signal is not working. I tried changing the bulb and it still does not work.?
check for currant at the socket ? may be a flasher also ??
Good luck
Try changing your flasher unit, that may be your problem
DID YOU CHECK THE FUSE AND THEN LITTLE ROUND THING CALLED A FLASHER THERE SHOULD BE 2 OF THEN AND THAT DEPENDS ON THE MAKE AND THE YEAR AND MADLE OF THE VEHICALE YOU HAVE BUT THATS WHY THE NTURN SIGNALS WONT WORK IS DUE TO A FAULTY FLASHER ARE A BAD FUSE THATS WHAT WE CHECK FIRST AT OUR REPAIR SHOP THANKS GOD BLESS.....

I went for a drive in my car. And at the lights changed to yellow i braked hard to a stop now ever since the brake lights are still on even tho i am not touching the brakes. i think i have broken the switch in the brake. Is there a way that i can fix it my self?
I have probblems with my tail lights on my toyota corolla 1985.?
Under you brake padal has a break switch attack to car body Its black white botton switch off set.
It very easy to replace and adjust it has 2 nuts 14mm, things you need just 2 open wrenches.
I have probblems with my tail lights on my toyota corolla 1985.?
Replace your brake light switch.
if you look on the arm that your brake pedal ataches to there should be a small barrel type switch with a plunger head .See if you bent the hold down or if the switch need to be reset If not replace the switch
your brake switch is fine. Thw little black rubber switch bumper is gone. They deteriate and fall out.
replace it and it will work.long hair pedicures is flirting

What is wrong with my tail lights? They work until I hit 50 mph, then quit. I still have all other lights.?
The car in question is a chevy astro van. I have changed fuses and all light bulbs.
What is wrong with my tail lights? They work until I hit 50 mph, then quit. I still have all other lights.?
Sounds like a short in the wiring. Something must be vibration them and the wire has worn through and it causes itself to become grounded. Go to a automotive electricla repair shop who specializes in automotive electrical repairs.

sort in the wiring
Check your speedometer, you could be going faster than light itself.

How do I change my ex's tail lights to an Si set?
I have a 96 civic ex coupe, I've seen the Si tail lights and i really like them, the red top and white bottom seem so clean, I want to get a set and install them, but i have a question or two.
How do i arrange the bulbs? can i just change the amber turn signal light with a red one and stick it in the top half?
And do the si tail lights have a smiliar layout to the ex? will the current bulbs that i have (except the amber turning light) fit into the Si light's sockets?
How do I change my ex's tail lights to an Si set?
the Si tail lights bolt up and the bulbs are in the same place as your current lights. i agree, the Si tail lights look WAY better then the EX tails. you want to keep your amber bulbs, that keeps you legal.

The (park) fuse keeps blowing for the gauges and tail lights on saturn sl?
I have a 1997 saturn SL. I checked the Park fuse (fuse that is in control of most of the interior lights and the rear tail lights) under the hood and it was blown. I changed the fuse. When I turned the engine over again, it blew that fuse too. What could the problem be and how could I fix it?
The (park) fuse keeps blowing for the gauges and tail lights on saturn sl?
sometimes the tail light sockets melt and cause trouble in the circuit, check those first.

2003 Renault M茅gane tail lights problem?
Hi, I've got a 2003 M茅gane and I'm having trouble with the rear lights. All three brake lights come on, but when the headlights are on, only one tail light comes on. I changed the bulb, but still doesn't light up as a tail lamp. Also, neither of the small lights that light up the rear registration plate work, I've also changed these bulbs. There is no particular fuse for these bulbs either.
Any ideas what to do?
Cheers
2003 Renault M茅gane tail lights problem?
If the bulbs and fuses are OK then only the wiring and connectors are left to be faulty. switch should be OK if the others are working on it.
2003 Renault M茅gane tail lights problem?
Renault's do suffer from connector and wiring problems, so it may well be that one of them is the cause of the problem. The good news is that renault recognised they had some problems with connectors and they can be brought separately from the rest of the wiring loom. the number plate lights get their power feeds from a small two pin block plug located behind one of the rear lights (passenger side), so again this connection maybe the cause of the problem.
in my experience the majority of lighting faults are caused by an earthing fault! identify the earth wire from the rear cluster(generally black) and check continuity by running an independant lead to a clean metal surface.

I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
i have a 99 mazda protege, and the fuse from the dash board lights and tail lights blew. i changed it about 10 times and it keeps blowing. also the radio will not even turn on.. im a female trying to fix it. can anyone tell me what the problem is? and about how much it will be to fix it and where i can get it fixed. thank you
I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
Something is up with your electrical system... You need to go in and have someone look at it... Hopefully they will be able to just hook it up to the Dino and figure out the error code but either way... You can't fix the electrical system on your own.
I keep changing the fuse on my car and it keeps blowing..?
I wish i had a girl like your fuse
Well, the fuse is blowing for a reason. The trick is - to find the reason.
If you can, find out what else is on that line. If its just the taillights and dash lights then pull out the bulbs. Try replacing the fuse with the bulbs out. If the fuse does not blow then replace the bulbs one-at-a-time until the fuse blows. That will be your bad circuit. If the fuse still blows when you have all the bulbs out, you will need to isolate each line to each socket until you find the %26quot;short%26quot;. If it gets to be too much a good mechanic can find it in about 20 minutes. A bad mechanic will keep trying different things until he/she stumble upon the problem.
Check the fuse for the radio. There should be one in the fuse panel and (if you have an after-market radio) there should be another in the power line to the radio,
Good luck!
you might have some electrical wiring problems and may have accedentially messed up something when you were fixing it those times
you have a wiring problem..theres either two wires touching or the ground wire is touching metal somewhere...
the cost...its hard to tell..it all depends on where the wire is bad at and how much of the dash has to b tore out...
you can take it to your local garage and get an estimate...
you have a short somewhere, they can be real hard to track down , better get a mechanic to look at it before you could have a fire
Should be a common circuit with parking/tailights
Remove the bulbs from the parking and tailights
Check sockets for corrosion/bare wires
Install fuse and replace bulbs one a time to see if problem is in the exterior of vehicle - if not same procedure under dash board
Are you sure you're using the right type of fuse? You may need a higher gauge.
If you still have the old one, check the number on the top.
If you have a friend with the same car ask and check theirs.
Otherwise, talk to your dealer or a mechanic for the right number.
You have a short somewhere. I would start tracing wires looking for breaks. Have you added any accessories or anything? Your radio should not be on the same fuse as your tail lights. Fords aren't anyways.
well if they blow once thats normal if they blow again then you have a short somewhere with one of the things that is not working.. any shop will do it but i could nt put a price on it unless i was working on it they go by time it take to fix it and what they have to do to fix it
Double check that you are using the right amperage fuse. If it's right and still blows you have a problem that could cause serious damage if you don't get to a mechanic.
It is an electronic problem and needs to have the garage check. You can ask for an estimate before paying for the work. Make sure the estimate is given in writing. Tell them you will get back to them after you go to a couple other garages for n estimate. This will let them know you won't be taken as a female because a lot of garages jack up the price when a female asks. Go to 3 garages and than go to the one that you feel is the most reputable and give them the lowest quote and see if they will match it. A lot of the newer cars require a computer diagnosis to find the problem when it is electronic. It may just be a faulty wire.
The only thing i can think of would be to get a voltage/amperage meter and open the car up and test the connections. Is the stereo a new one? did it come with the car? do you have other things installed/plugged in that did not come with the car. If you dont have a amperage meter and know how to use one you might have to take it to a local shop or a local highschool that has an autoshop class ( the teachers will let the kids fix it for you with no cost other than parts ). you might even be using the wrong fuses.
BTW: rishab copy and basted his post off another wiki site i say down thumb him
what's that definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result? sorry, just kiddin...
this is one of those rogue electrical gremlins that can be difficult to diagnose. You'll have to take it to someone or else learn to use a multimeter (it's not that difficult).
If you end up taking it to the shop, it needs to be a mechanic you can trust -- they'll be charging by the hour, and it could take anywhere from 10 minutes to three hours maybe more.
wish I had a better answer for ya.
look in the wire harness to the tail lights, start at the lights and work back to the fuse box. You will find that harness in the trunk and under the carpet usually the drivers side good luck
Blown fuses are a Symptom of a problem, not the problem,There is a short circuit in one of the systems mentioned, a chafed wire perhaps. The parts that re most exposed are the taillights, look or feel where the wires come out of the tube if it is ruff tape it over with electrical tape. It is slow and tedious but rewarding if you find something.vc programming

It is slow and tedious but rewarding if you find something.

HELP!! HOW DO U CHANGE A BRAKE LIGHT BULB ON A 2006 EQUINOX?
Tell me how to get the cover off. I need to change a light bulb on a brake light on a 2006 chevy equinox!!! I mean in the tail light section? Help help help!!!!!
HELP!! HOW DO U CHANGE A BRAKE LIGHT BULB ON A 2006 EQUINOX?
If there are no screws on the outside.Open the trunk. You will need to take out or pull back the carpet like walls directly behind where the tail light is..There should be up to 4 plastic wing-nuts or 4 nuts.you will need to take off.If you can get to the bulb from the trunk go ahead, but you probably will need to take the entire tail light out.
HELP!! HOW DO U CHANGE A BRAKE LIGHT BULB ON A 2006 EQUINOX?
open up the hatch there should be 2 phillips head screws on the inside. if that isnt right try seeing if there is an access panel inside that will give you access to the back of the lights without actually taking the light off of the vehicle
I dont know... but you should have sex with the chick ur doing it for

My 1997 pontiac sunfire 2.2 has no head, tail,or dash lights. I changed all bulbs and checked fuses! help!!!!!?
the problem started all at once, no lights while driving. I replaced all bulbs and checked all fuses according to the limited owners manual. some suspect it may be the neutral safety switch, what ever that is. it has no cruise control and the light switch is a lever on the left-side of the steering wheel. i noticed that when i engage the high beam lights the switch/lever deos not lock or stay in position, so if i drive the car at night i must use the high beams and hold the lever in place. once again, no head lights, no tail lights,no interior dash lights. all flashers, brake, backup/reverse,and interior dome light works fine. Please help....

I think the multifunction switch in your steering column is bad, or that the plug that goes into it is loose. You probably need a professional help for this.

check fuseable links off the starter and under hood fuse panel could also be a bad switch I would lean towards the bad switch hope this helps

How do I change the air filter and tail lights in my Chevy S-10?
I bought an air filter and just wanted to make sure not to pull the whole thing out. In my last car i just took the clips off and took out the old air filter. In my truck now, the filter is wedged in and i just want to make sure before i pull it out completely.
Just got the truck and I am prone to mess things up doing repairs and replacements with out proper instruction. Thanks

yes just pull it out, to change the bulbs, drop the tailgate and take out the screws or clips on the inside edge. this will allow you to pull out the taillight.textbox msdn

Tail light/brake light problem in 1994 Ford Explorer?
I have a '94 Ford Explorer that still runs well, but recently both my tail lights went out (I'm assuming) at the same time. In this car, the same bulb is used for braking, turn signals, and when your headlights are on. The bulbs work when I brake and when I signal, but when I turn on my headlights they don't come on. I changed the bulbs and it didn't make any difference. What could be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Some other possibly relevant information...
1) I recently had to replace the car's computer
2) My dashboard lights may have gone out at the same time
Tail light/brake light problem in 1994 Ford Explorer?
See if the front marker lights work with the head lamps on. If so, then you know the switch and fuse are good. Next, pull the tail lamp out and disconnect the plug. Then take a test light and probe the connector on the car for the tail lamp. If it lights up, you know you have power to the tail lamp and the socket is bad. If there is no power and the fuse is good, then you will have to probe the wire back to where there is power and splice it from there. More than likely it is a chaffed wire under the dash if it is not the switch or fuse.

check the fuse sometimes they are on different fuses after that check and see if you have power to them if not you got a wiring prob and only a pro can help
got you covered,i have a 95 f150 same trouble. find your tail light ground on the rear light and ground it better or run a new one.this should stop the trouble
Lighting control module... it's a Ford thing.

Lights in the rear, and dash of my vehicle stopped working. Help please!?
I was changing a tail light that was burnt out on my 03 Astro van yesterday and I am positive I used the correct bulb. When I started the van after reinstalling the light cover none of the lights on the rear of the vehicle worked except for the brake lights. No blinkers, running lights or reverse lights. The lights in my dash also stopped working, but the radio works fine. I checked my fuses and everything looks fine. What could the problem be?
Thanks!
Lights in the rear, and dash of my vehicle stopped working. Help please!?
fuse problem, your taillights and dash lights are on the same fuse.
Lights in the rear, and dash of my vehicle stopped working. Help please!?
could be an earth problem
You blew the fuse. That's why the dash lights go out with the tail lights. So you don't drive for years not knowing your tail lights aren't working.
Check all fuses with an ohm meter or test light to be sure.
Dash and taillights are on the same circuit.
Recheck you fuses. Find the fuse that controls this circuit. Change it anyway. Gut tells me that is where your problem is. Sometimes a fuse can be bad and not be readily seen by simply looking at it.
It could be a ground problem. or a fuse. your dash and taillights are on the same circuit. if your normally on a dirty/dusty road or a rough road one of your grounds could have lost connection when you removed your light assembly.
Thanks!

Anyone know how to change a front headlight on a mitsubishi outlander? 2004?
I used to own a 2000 Mitsu Eclipse and changed the tail lights by myself. The headlight on my outlander went out Christmas Eve and when I called Mitsubishi to quote a replacement, they said $545 ! YIKES! Not if I can do it myself....I found the part for $8.99 at a local auto parts store, but I am concerned that I may have to remove the bumper or something to get to the bulb - which would be why mitsu would charge so much to change it themselves.
Anyone know how to change a front headlight on a mitsubishi outlander? 2004?
Your dealer has quoted for a complete light assembly. It sounds like you need to ask for a quote on the bulb only. If the light has failed, and the car is only 2 years old, your warranty will cover it. If the light has been damaged by road debris, your insurer should cover the cost

My dash lights and tail lights on my 94 Ranger have all gone out, does anyone know the problem?
My Ranger's tail lights and instrument panel lights all went out at the same time. I've been told that these are wired together sometimes and I figured I blew a fuse. But I have no idea where to find the fuses and Identify which one needs changes. I have no owners manual.
My dash lights and tail lights on my 94 Ranger have all gone out, does anyone know the problem?
Google it, for starters, look for a %26quot;Chilton's Guide.%26quot; Your fuse panel is likely either by a door on the dash panel or underneath the steering column. A blown fuse is one that looks blackened and has the little wire in the middle that's not complete.
My dash lights and tail lights on my 94 Ranger have all gone out, does anyone know the problem?
Its a fuse alright. Go to a repair shop. If they charge over five dollars you were ripped off.
well the fuses are under the dash pull them one by one to see which one is bad if you replace it and it still blows it could be a bad parking light bulb try taking them out putting the fuse to see if you get dash lights then replace bulb/bulbs
Look under the dash on the drivers side, near the steering col um
you should find the fuse box on the left hand side.

Tail lights are not working on my Honda civic?
I have a 95 Honda Civic and I have a small problem. My tail lights are not working. When I turn on the head light the tail lights do not turn with them. But my brake lights work. I checked the fuse box and everything is fine there and I checked and changed the bulb itself but still no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Tail lights are not working on my Honda civic?
I has that same problem, do your dash lights work at night when reading the speedometer and everything else, because the taillights and the dash lights are connected and it was a just a fuse, check the fuses again. Make sure it's the right slot for this fuse. If you need a diagram there's some online for it. If nothing works take it to a mechanic and let them deal with it.

Sounds like you may have some wire issues at the tail lights. Have it checked by a certified tech.
you have a short or your ground wire is not hook up.
there also may be a tsb for the headlight switch assy.when i warked at honda we were replacing them along with part of the harness due to an overheating wire (red/white tracer)home search a scam fish

How do i fix my brake lights on my 1992 Toyota Camry LE?
I have already changed all my tail lights and Headlights. The center light only works when i press the brake, but when I turn on my headlights the back lights come just not the brake lights. Need help before i get a ticket!
How do i fix my brake lights on my 1992 Toyota Camry LE?
Since the center light comes on that means the brake light switch is working. And you said you alreAdy replaced the bulbs so it must be a wiring problem. Either a bad ground or power going to the light sockets
How do i fix my brake lights on my 1992 Toyota Camry LE?
I just replaced mine on my ford explore. Not the same car but look at your lights and if you have a trunk open it and loosen any screws holding the red plastic over the bulb. you may not need to take the red cover off and just be able to reach in to the back of your trunk and see wires going into the general area turn it and pull gently. then remove bulbs and replace
If the brake lights don't come on when you press the brake pedal, check under or next to the brake pedal for the switch and it can be adjusted.

I have a ford F150 and the tail lights don't work, any suggestions?
we changed the bulbs and had tail lights for a while. now, we don't have any again. we have checked the fuses, put in a new switch, and still nothing.
I have a ford F150 and the tail lights don't work, any suggestions?
it might be a bad ground.i had a car once that did that, and i took a piece of covered wire and stuck 1 end on the side of where the bulb goes and ran the other end to a ground(like the lens screw)and got mine working.
I have a ford F150 and the tail lights don't work, any suggestions?
Change the bulbs again.
Did you ever check for a faulty wiring?
Get a test light and check for power at both wires on the brake light switch with the pedal pressed. If have power, then check at the bulbs. If have power to the bulbs, and they don't light, you have a bad ground, either in the sockets or the harness.
I would suggest checking the wiring over for bare spots or places where you could be getting a bad connection. also the light sockets themselves may be bad.
take a test light and with the tail lights on check for power at one of the terminals. only touch one at a time. if there is power check for ground. if no power check all not just your tail light fuse, check all fuses!!!! if still not working it can be headlight switch,or wiring
have you recently put in an alternator check voltage check voltage at tail lights if any did you go to school for anything concerning these matters if not leave it to someone that did
check the connector under the left rear corner of the bed where the frame wiring plugs into the tail light wiring harness espec. if some one has added trailer light plug

Neither tail lights or brake lights work 87 volvo 240 wagon?
I am trying to get the tail lights and brake lights to work on my 87 volvo 240 wagon. I have changed the fuses, checked the connections, and checked for damaged wires in every area I can get to them. Does anyone know where a wiring diagram to the taillights could be located? Any ideas on what I should try from here?
Neither tail lights or brake lights work 87 volvo 240 wagon?
Have you checked to see if there is actually power at the connection? Get a voltage meter and hook one wire to a good metal ground and then use the test probe to check the connection wires. If you find that there is power there, then it is most likely a ground somewhere that is bad or loose.
That is generally the case with Volvos.
If you have power to the connector, all you have to do is to figure out which wire is the ground and ground it directly to the chassis.

I need to know how to change the rear bulbs(tail lights) in a 99 Chevy Tahoe.?
Open the rear door. On the inside of the door frame their are 2 torx (looks like a star) screws, a T-15 is the size I believe. One to the top of the light cover and one to the bottom.
I need to know how to change the rear bulbs(tail lights) in a 99 Chevy Tahoe.?
going from memory there should be hex head screws on the outside of the lamp. One on the top one on the bottom. Take those out and pull the lamp right out. At least that is how the pickups are in those years.

2003 Ford Explorer sport has a faulty tail light?
my friend has a 2003 Ford Explorer sport that has a faulty taillight.... all others work except for the rear drivers side.. although it burns when the lights are on but does not get brighter when the brakes are aplied.. Thinking it may be a ground problem cause we changed out the bulb and the socket. Where is the ground wire for this located ( where does it end) and what should happen when doing the test probe

2003 Ford Explorer sport has a faulty tail light?
if the tail light works(the dim side of the bulb) the ground is not bad it's a problem in the feed wire to the brake side of the bulb.
Ford uses a bayonet base bulb and if you replaced the socket you may have wired it incorrectly - Using a test light perform the following tests; Observe the socket and you will see four contacts - one on each side of each end of the socket, with the test light connected to a good solid ground and the headlights ON you test all 4 contacts - one contact and only one contact should light the test light - if it lights on both contacts at one end it is incorrectly wired. Next have an assistant press the brake pedal and hold it applied while testing all 4 contacts again. this time the light should operate when touched to both contacts at the same end of the socket which lighted the test light on the headlights only test and not light on either contact at the opposite end- if the light operates on 3 contacts on this test it is incorrectly wired, if it fails to light on the second terminal check the wiring back to the common point in the harness where the right and left brake light wires are spliced. If it passes both of the above tests - then test with the test light between the connectors at opposite ends - it should light between both terminals on the same side on each side of the socket - if it does not light on either side then trace and repair the ground.hair dryer getting yourex girlfriendback

I'm not sure if this is the right section to put this in or not but I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a 2005 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and when I have my lights on the tail lights are really really bright when I'm just running. It looks like I am stepping on my breaks. I don't know what to do about it either!
I've asked the Audi dealer to check it out and they said it's normal...but I really don't think it's normal when people who are following you call you and ask why you're riding your breaks when you're not.
Does anyone know what I can do to make them less bright?
Maybe changing a light bulb, messing with the wiring or maybe getting black tail lights? Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.

Well, this is going to sound silly but check anyway. You're car probably has rear fog lights. Very common in Europe, and now starting to annoy people here. Very useful in actual fog, murder in normal conditions. I'm not sure where the switch is in an Audi, but in my Mercedes and in Jaguars, it's just another pull on the headlight switch. It's often just one side that has the light, but on my Mercedes, it's both.

You can black out the lights with either the tinted film or the spray. It will keep in a bit of the light and looks good.
Have a friend stand behind the car at night. Turn your lights on. Apply the brake. If your friend notices an obvious difference in brightness you are OK. If there is no difference, have the dealer check your brake light switch.

Brake lights don't work for 1995 chevy luma, but tail light works?
changed blub it's fine
Brake lights don't work for 1995 chevy luma, but tail light works?
Your socket better known as a pigtail which the bulb fits in may be shorted out try replacing that or your fuse locating in your fuse panel. Your last resort is the brake switch located behind your pedal maybe stuck.
Brake lights don't work for 1995 chevy luma, but tail light works?
check brake fuse
check brake switch located on your brake pedal
I had that problem with a 98 Ford Mustang. The problem was with the connection at the break pedal. One of the connections had frayed off and that was the end of the brake lights.
I had the same thing happen to me in my 95 Lumina several years ago. You need some electrical work done. Take it to a shop you trust.
2 element bulb does your turn signals work? if they don't change the bulb if they do check the brake switch and fuse
I had the same problem to my GMC Savana. After I've changed few bulbs, finally I found the problem. There is a loose wire (where the bulb comes in), so all what you have to do is to check 'em out.
At least that was the problem with my van...

Dash and tail lights out on 96 ford taurus, fuses and lights are new, but still not working, what is wrong?
Changed the fuses under the steering wheel, and ive replaced all tail lights despite them not being burned out. Brake lights work, but tail lights for night time driving dont. The dash lights are also out. there has been one time when the dash light and tail light both came on, but then went back out again.
Dash and tail lights out on 96 ford taurus, fuses and lights are new, but still not working, what is wrong?
Sounds like you may have a bad headlight switch. Could have shorted out and still allows the headlights to work. Not hard or expensive to replace. Break lights don't run through the switch, but the dash and the running lights do.

If the fuses are good, then I would suspect the light switch is the problem.

please help me...i have a 1996 toyota rav4 and i replaced the alternator and now the tail lights, brake lights, and dash lights are not working:( does anyone have any idea on what the problem is? also do you know where i could find the fuse panel in this car? THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! have a wonderful dayy!!
I changed the alternator in my toyota rav4 and now the tail and dash lights dont work?
Change the fuse. These blow often in Toyotas.
I changed the alternator in my toyota rav4 and now the tail and dash lights dont work?
There is a blown out fuse. Look in a good repair manual to locate all the fuse boxes in your car.
Designers purposely put the tail lights and dash lights on the same fuse, because you could drive for weeks or months without KNOWING the tail lights are out. With the DASH lights out, you fix the problem quickly.
Replace the fuse.
Surely it is the fuse blown out. Just have a look on the driver's seat on the right hand side, you will notice a flapper about 3%26quot;x3%26quot; pull it out softly, you will see a diagram of all the fuses. Take it out fuses one by one, the once blown off will be easily visible with naked eye. Change it and you will be alright. Good luck.If it does not work, check the earth wire, possibly it is not tightened properly.

Changing a headlight Camry 98?
I need to change a headlight and a tail light on my 98 camry. Does anyone have easy directions on how I can do this in the morning? Thank you
Changing a headlight Camry 98?
Access the Tail light bulb first remove the inside uphostery covering the combination light fixture, open the door on it and remove the bad bulb and put a good one in its place. They pull out and push in.
Replacing the headlight is not like the old days. It's better for youto look in the repair manual that has illustrations and descriptions of how to do the job. The library has every repair manual you can use. I recommend Chiltons.

I hope it's fixed by now, but really, the process is step by step and not something just words can bring youup to date on. It takes the pictures too that are in Chiltons.

My advice to you since you've done everything you could think of for next to nothing, is to take it to a shop and let a professional have a look.
I have Jeep Cerokee Laredo 2002,don't haveTail light but have breaks light, changed all bulbs still not work ?
Check the Taillight fuse I the main fuse boxes. If not there, then you are looking at the light switch. Keep in mind the air bag close to this switch. It can be set off. At close range it can kill you. I would have a mechanic check this switch and replace it. There safety steps that has to be taken first. It around $1500.00 to replace the air bag.
there should be 2 fuse boxes one under the hood which you found and one under the dash somewhere
also check the relay for the lights too it might be bad and thats why you are not getting
other than that you will need to get a test light and find out if there is a bad ground somewhere or a bad wire some where
hope this helps

Dash/Tail light fuse keeps blowing in my '97 Dodge Neon?
A few weeks ago, I started having an annoying problem with my car. Every time I make a right turn (whether I'm using the signal or not), the fuse for the dash and tail light blows out. This only happens if the right turn is being made on an upward slope. Strange, right?
Before you ask, I did not change any wiring in my car beforehand to cause it to do this. It just started randomly.
Since then we've checked the wires and they are not hot, corroded, or otherwise messed up. We've also replaced the break switch and the tail lights.
My father is an auto body tech whose fairly knowledgeable about mechanics and my brother is a mechanic intern. Both are stumped.
Any ideas?

The wiring is shorting out somewhere causing the fuses to break you just haven't found it yet follow it from the directional SWITCH to the lights, see if anything else uses the same circuit, lighter, defroster and so on and check to see if it is shorting out.

What is causing my tail lamp to malfunction?
I own a 99 accord ex coupe. Sometimes the tail lamp sensor goes off on the dashboard when I press the brakes and I notice that 1 of the tail lamps doesn't change when the brake is pressed (however it does turn on when I switch the headlights on). Other times everything works fine and there is no problem. All of the tail lights work perfectly when i turn the switch on for the headlights. When I press the brakes (with the headlights still on) the faulty tail lamp remains as if I hadn't pressed the brake. Again what confuses me is that this only occurs some of the time; with no apparant pattern other than when I press the brakes. I checked the brake fluid and it is at the proper level.
What is causing my tail lamp to malfunction?
Forgive me for stating the obvious, but the taillamp and brake lamp may use the same bulb...some bulbs have 2 filaments and that is the first thing I would check. Then you can start searching for open circuits in the wiring if that is not the case.
What is causing my tail lamp to malfunction?
you have a short somewhere, do you have a custom stereo? if so this can be a major cause. Your remote wire for your stereo is tied into your lights. I would start there..if no custom stereo, i am guessing it is in your dash somewhere. prob your steering column.
you got a bulb gone bad in it there are a lot of bulbs back there one is for the park light ,,that's the one your seeing when you turn the lights on,,you need to get to them and replace the one for the other one,,it may just not be making contact real good, you might be able to clean it real good and it work,,but id replace it while i had it out,,replace any bulb that has a blackish look to them,,there getting ready to blow if they have that blackish look to them,,good luck hope this help,s.
The tail lamp bulb may be loose or corroded in the socket, or there may be a problem with the wiring.

Why don't my brake lights tail lights and turn signals work on my 1967 Chevelle?
I've changed the turn signal switch, brake light switch and followed all of the wires and everything seems connected. I also checked all of the grounds and they all look good. My guage clusters work and all so does the dome light, I can't figure this out any suggestions would help thanks
Why don't my brake lights tail lights and turn signals work on my 1967 Chevelle?
Check all of the fuses on the fuse panel under the dash, not just the ones for the lights.

did you check the turn signal relay in the fuse box and the fuses
probably blown fuses. fine classic car you have , treasure it.
Ok Im a woman but I know from hearing my husband with this same problem, under your brake pedal is a little silver thing,it has something to do with your lights, you should check it,we wiggled ours and found it needed replaced, not easy to find the piece though on that late model

My brake lights wont work on my 1996 mitsubishi spacewagon 2.0glxi. it is a stop/tail bulb?
there is power going to the fuse box and also to the brake pedal switch.the switch has been taken out and tested and is working.and the bulbs have been changed.the rear side tail lights are working when i put the lights on.there is a towbar on the car with working electrics.can someone give me any clue what to look for,as i dont want to get stopped by the pelars?
My brake lights wont work on my 1996 mitsubishi spacewagon 2.0glxi. it is a stop/tail bulb?
What about power coming FROM the switch when it's activated? If there isn't then it's the switch,if there is then it's either the wiring from there to the lamp or the lamp mother board or bulb holder. Pull board/bulb holder out and look for corrosion or any loose or broken wiring.
My brake lights wont work on my 1996 mitsubishi spacewagon 2.0glxi. it is a stop/tail bulb?
Try an electric repair shop. They should have you going quickly. good luck
i think you have a traped wire some where in the body or its a dogy bulb this can happen?
you need an auto electricion to sort it
Have you tested for power to the stop light and is it both sides? If only one side and a new, working lamp is fitted, than it will be the power supply. Try checking the plug connection to the rear light assembly by pulling it off and putting it back. Usually if one filament in a lamp works then there is nothing wrong with the earth side.

1992 bmw 318is driver side tail lights are not working. I changed the bulb and checked fuses and it still would not work. What else could it be? Thank you for any and all help!

Clean out the sockets for the bulbs with electrical contact cleaner. Make sure there's no rust or corrosion. If there is, clean it up with emery paper (the black sort of sandpaper). Make sure the solder connections between the wires and the sockets are all good. If the sockets are badly corroded, you may need to replace them.
Once everything is clean, use some dielectric grease to protect against corrosion, and reinsert the bulbs. Make sure you're using quality bulbs (as noted by the other poster).
1992 bmw 318is driver side tail lights are not working?
Hey. I have a 2000 318is and my dad is big on cars and knows basically everything there is to know. I kept having the same issue with my tail lights as well and I believe he found out that it was something with the fuses. I know you said you checked yours already, in that case it might just be because it's an older car. It's a common problem for the tail lights to burn out quickly in those cars.
The BMW tail lights and turn signals have bulbs in them with a copper/gold base (the part that plugs into the housing).....you probably bought replacement bulbs with a cheap aluminum base, which shorts out all the time (I had the same problem years back on my 1992 318is also.)..........use only the more expensive ones (they're about $2.00 more, big deal !) even if you have to buy it from the dealer directly.....PS.......watch out for that timeing chain tensioner....it's a ***** to pay for.

Help with lexus sc400 tail light.?
recently my left rear tail light has been confusing me. when i turn on my headlights my rear tail light (the stop light) doesnt work when i step on the brake the right one works fine but the left one goes off. this only happens when i turn on my headlights not when they are off. i already changed the bulbs but nothing changed. can anyone help?
Help with lexus sc400 tail light.?
There's probably a short in your wiring. Take it to a Lexus or Toyota dealership to get it fixed.
Help with lexus sc400 tail light.?
Go to your Lexus Dealership they will explain everything
if you live in new york, bring it to ray catena lexus. they are the best. that is where my aunt's three cars are from and they gave her the best deal on the RX 350
Depending on the year you may have to get the bulb from the dealership for each separate socket, its unlikely the wires are switched but it wont hurt to look for disconnected or grounded wires at all light connection. Good Luck and GOD Bless
The left stop light socket loses ground.
Open your trunk and check the wiring that runs by the trunk lid hinges. It's common for some of the wires to get pinched or cut at the hinges and cause all kinds of wierd problems.
You will just have to repair the wiring and make sure and secure it so it won't get pinched by the hinge again.

Tail Light/ Parking Light Toyota 1989 Corolla stays on?
I drive a 1989 Toyota Corolla. I changed the rear brake light bulb 2 days ago and the fuse for that light and it was fine.
Today, the rear light wont turn off. When I brake, the light is on yet the brake light does not light up. Even if the car is off and I am parked and all the light turned off that rear light is on. I do not want to kill the battery so I actually take out the bulbs since it鈥檚 the only way to have the light offs. Please let me know what you think? Thanks!

they are all very good answers also if you have an aftermarket alarm system the relay in the module could be stuck in the on position seen it before good luck

Myself and my friend had '87 and an 88 corolla that had the same problem and we resolved it by adjusting the brake light switch under the pedal. some are adjustable in older models.
sounds like it is your break light switch/sensor behind the brake padel has gone bad replace it and it will go off if it was bad had that problem with a few cars i have owned
remove the bulb and reinsert the opposite way - there are two small %26quot;dots%26quot; on the side of the bulb, one closer to the filament and the other further away, the bulb may just be in the wrong way (look inside the socket to see which slot for the dot is higher than the other)software software

How long do recalls last on vehicles?
I have a 2002 chevy trailblazer, the tail brake lights will not work after changing light bulbs and changing fuses. I saw where they had a recall in '04 but wondering if I can still turn mine is as a recall? The top brake light works.
How long do recalls last on vehicles?
Permanently... Recalls are forever.
Recalled vehicles are tracked by VIN. One scan into computer and they have a record of whether recall was done on your vehicle or not, and you don't be charged if it is indeed a recall item.
How long do recalls last on vehicles?
Recalls are forever, until the problem is fixed. Go to the nearest Chevrolet dealer and have them run your VIN to see if your vehicle is listed. Recalls are specific to vehicle by VIN, not general.

Replacing 2005 X3 Tail light?
I'm trying to learn more about my x3 and do the dirty work myself, always enjoyed working on my cars. My tail light went out the other day and I need to replace it, does anyone know how to change them? I tried removing the hatch but a strained sound from the plastic halted that approach. Any suggestions are appreciated, especially from those who have done this before
Replacing 2005 X3 Tail light?
you have to get through through the panel which you can find if you open the hatch. bmw makes it hard to get in though, they always make it hard to do stuff yourself.

My Grand Prix has what appears to be a burnt out brake light. I replaced the bulb and checked the fuses but?
I've changed tail lamps many times before, but I have no brake light or turn signal on my one rear side. My front turn signal blinks, but twice as fast as usual. Fuses are o.k. Am I missing something simple or could this be more complex?
My Grand Prix has what appears to be a burnt out brake light. I replaced the bulb and checked the fuses but?
Could be a corroded connection for the bulb back there, or when you replaced the bulb, it was burnt out as well.

Try using a volt meter %26amp; trouble shoot.
Sounds like a bad ground.
Take a wire and strip both ends, remove bulb and place wire into shell, replace bulb and install into housing. Secure other end of wire into bare metal with washer and screw.

Tail lights and blinkers don't work?
I have a '94 Buick Regal Gran Sport. After recently changing the alternator in it, my tail lights and blinkers stopped working. I've tried changing out the fuses, but that didn't help. What else could it be?
Tail lights and blinkers don't work?
Multi Function Switch.
Tail lights and blinkers don't work?
if it happened right after hooking a charger to the system you more than likely blew some fuses or relays

Should vehicle tail lights be different colors?
Should red mean stop and maybe change running lights to something else, so it would be easier to tell if someone ahead was stopping? What color whould you suggest?
Should vehicle tail lights be different colors?
Yes, I totally agree. In keeping with what we're used to (don't want to make the learning curve too difficult here)I think red should be stop and running should be green. It may be weird at first, but this is what life is all about. Since you brought this up, I'd also like to say that I think all car manufacturers should change blinker lights to yellow. It is highly annoying when I have to struggle to figure out whether the car ahead of me is about to turn or not since the blinker section is red....particularly during the day. Just my two cents...

Some cars have two fuses for sidelights, left and right. Not sure about your model, but perhaps you have changed the wrong fuse.
Good luck

Not sure what you mean by tail light %26quot;front and back%26quot; if you mean tail lights at the bcak then check the earth wire.
If you mean back lights and front lights aren't working then check the connection at the switch.

Remove the bulb. Click on your headlights. Use a test light to probe the contacts. One contact is for the taillight %26amp; the other is the brake. If test light illuminates, then check the bulb. Place the one contact on the base of the bulb on the positive battery terminal. Place another piece of wire from the negative post on the battery %26amp; touch the lower side of the bulb. One side will illuminate brightly (brake) %26amp; the other dimmer (taillight). If both filaments of the bulb illuminate, then the bulb is OK.
Return to the light receptacle %26amp; check the ground wire for corrosion %26amp; continuity. Make sure it is pried out far enough to contact the case of the bulb. If OK, then check continuity with a multimeter. Set meter to the 惟 scale. Touch one probe the ground in the receptacle %26amp; the other to a good body ground. The meter should read %26quot;0%26quot;. If there is no reading hen there is a problem with the ground wire.

There are alot of reasons this could be happening. To better answer the question we need more information about the car etc. However I will presume it is an older car %26amp; depending on how old the car is the connections can become very poor. If the bulb fits into a carrier that is not very clean, or worse still rusty then chances are the electricity will not conduct through the rust %26amp; hence no light. You need to ensure all contact points are clean %26amp; rust free. You also need to check that the cables are connected properly including, as Dunrobin46 said, the earth. Once you have done this %26amp; you have proved that the bulb works (on a different light) %26amp; that there is power leaving the fuse carrier then things get messy. You will need to test for voltage at the bulb, test continuity betweeen the end of the cables etc etc. This is something I suggest you leave to an expert. Of course if the bulb attached to a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) you will need to ensure that all the connections into, on %26amp; out of the PCB are in good order. Again - expert! Good luck
Sounds like you have a bad ground.
I'd check all the cable connections and wires to see if any have snapped or broken. if so im sure you can get replacements from garages or scrapyards
have you checked the fuses are put back in the right place and right voltage, know it may sound crazy but it can be the problem when things still don't work, or they may be a faulty connection somewhere.

Have 97 lincoln mark 8 tail lights not working, brake lights turn signal back up etc all k what could be wrong?
Just had fuse changed on brake lights, due to car not coming out of park, but all fuses have tested good. All brake lights, back up lights, turn signals, etc, work, but not tail lights. Any suggestions as to what is wrong?
Have 97 lincoln mark 8 tail lights not working, brake lights turn signal back up etc all k what could be wrong?
The bulbs filament is burnt. Each rear tail light bulb has a double filament. The bright one is for the turn, brake, and hazard lights. The other is for the park lights. The bulb should be a 3157. If by chance a 3156 bulb was installed the lights wouldn't work right, because this bulb is a single filament.
Double check your bulbs.
Hope this helps and good luck. Christopher
Have 97 lincoln mark 8 tail lights not working, brake lights turn signal back up etc all k what could be wrong?
best answer never showed up The easiest solution and the answer turned out to be just check for burned out fuse. Never trust a fuse tester. Even though they all tested good twice, I had two burned out fuses - one for the brake light, not letting the car come out of park, and one for the tail lights
Does your car still stay in park when you start it and try to shift it? The reason I ask is because the same thing happened to my Crown Victoria. The rear brake lights were not working so the car would not shift into gear. What the problem was is the brake light switch. When it burns out the tail lights will not work and the car will not shift into gear. The brake light switch is located at the top of the brake pedal shaft. It's a pain in the neck to replace because you have to reach up under the dash board. It takes about 40 minutes to an hour to replace. The brake light switch is about 40 bucks from the dealer. So if your lights are out and the car will not shift into drive than that is your problem. If your car is driving, sorry I don't know what to tell you, you'll have to get a mechanic to look at it.
When I bough my brake light switch the dealer told me the reason the car will not shift into gear when the brake light don't work it's because it's a safety feature to prevent you from driving the car without tail and brake lights. Especially at night, so when you stop you won't get rear ended by another car because the brake lights didn't work.
its not the bulbs you have several tail light bulbs for each size the problem Mark8 have is the wiring harness in the trunk it runs up the trunk hinge so it moves every time you open and close the trunk. You have a pinched wire in there find where the harness bend when trunk is open and the problem will be close by that area.

Does changing your head lights or exhaust void your cars warranty?
i drive a 2006 nissan Altima and i'm thinking of putting GReddy EVO 2 Catback Exhaust System on my Altima along with neons and halo head lights. also does tinting tail lights void warranty?
Does changing your head lights or exhaust void your cars warranty?
The catback may be a violation, you should call your nissan dealer.
Does changing your head lights or exhaust void your cars warranty?
As long as you only do a %26quot;cat-back%26quot; system, you're okay. headlights and taillight mods are no issue with warranty either, though your local law enforcement can give you a fix-it-ticket for those mods.

My dash and tail lights keep going out ?
I have a 2003 nissan sentra gxe. My tail lights and dashboard lights have been going out many times. Iv changed the fuse and it just keeps blowing. My license plate lights don't work as well as the front parking lights. When i push on the brake, my tail lights light up, so its not the bulbs. My flashers, headlights and internal lights all work fine. ?
My dash and tail lights keep going out ?
Sounds like you might have a bare wire somewhere that keeps blowing the fuse. You'll have to check the wiring to make sure it is still grounded and in good shape.
My dash and tail lights keep going out ?
==%26gt; Answer to this problem=%26gt; I put an aftermarket deck (stereo) in my car. The problem was when you connect the wires from the car to the adapter to the back of the deck, you'll have some bare wires u don't uses. Most of the time the wires left over are orange. they ground out. cut/tape bare wires
super car dude!
You have a short in the circuit(s). If you are unable to troubleshoot this you'll need to take it to a shop.

99 chevorlet blazer tail light issue?
i am having a problem with my left taillight it will not turn on i have replaced the bulb and checked the fuses nothing is changing can someone help me with this please any ideas?
99 chevorlet blazer tail light issue?
The circuit board on the tail light connector plate is a notorious problem on that Chevrolet Blazer and other GM vehicles. If the fuse and bulb is good and all the connections are solid then the problem is very likely a faulty tail light connector plate. This is the part:
http://cpwstore.carpartswholesale.com/ca鈥?/a>
Be sure to specify left side or right side when you purchase the connector plate. They are different. Most Advance Auto Parts stores will have them in stock.
99 chevorlet blazer tail light issue?
have some one who know what they are doing i have my uncle do all of the repairs cuz he works at gm
Do the blinkers work, does the brake light work. The blinkers and brake light are on the same circuit so if they work it means the problem is with the tail light circuit only. You need a test light or multi meter to test the connector where the bulb plugs in to see if you have 12 volt. Be sure you have the correct bulb .
chevy blazers had allot of issues with they're multifunction switch (the switch that sits on top of the steering column that operated the turn signal, wipers, and hazards).
replacing the hazard switch itself (top of column) always fixed the taillight issues but it was both brake lamps that wouldn't work and it also affected the turn signals.
try wiggling that hazard switch around and see if your flashers breaker clicks or the lights do anything funky otherwise you just might need to replace the lamp socket

My tail lights, head lights, and dash board lights are not working. I changed the fuse and the bulbs but stil no lights.

There should be several fuses; one for the headlights, one for the tails, and one for the dash...did this just happen or a car you bought like this ?? Maybe even wiring - difficult to diagnose online

98 jeep cherokee back left tail light out help?
its not the bulb, i have changed that and its still not working. was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction at where it connects in the engine if thats the problem or if someone knows why it wouldnt be working..
98 jeep cherokee back left tail light out help?
If the right light works it doesn't have anything to do with where it connects to the system. If the brake light works it's not a ground problem. The two most likely things are that you used the wrong bulb, or the socket is bad. Check the socket for bad contacts or a broken wire and swap the left and right tailight bulbs to make sure they good.
98 jeep cherokee back left tail light out help?
Take a test light and pull the bulb out of the socket.Use the test light in the socket to see if there is any power to it.Bu turn on your headlights to the park position while doing this.If you find that you have power its the bulb if no power you might have a ground wire to that socket that needs to be fixed. For every power there has to be a ground to operate it.Check to see if you have a black wire for a ground from the socket to a connection on the body somewhere find it and either clean it or replace it.If it needs cleaning use some sandpaper to clean the ends of the wire connection and the place of the body where it mounts. And also clean out the socket with either sandpaper and some electrical spray like alcohol type. You can get some stuff called electro motive. It is in a red can and white can and spray it in the socket of the light bulb and let it drain out of the socket to dry.And retry the bulb again or a new one.But also watch how your putting the bulb in.There is two grooves going down inside the socket one is longer than the other. The longer groove takes the small stub at the bottom of the light bulb and the other one is higher up than the other it will be the shorter one closet to the middle of it.Place the light bulb into the socket and see what happens. But make sure everything is clean before you put the light bulb in.You can use some stuff that is called silicone grease it is a clear grease that helps to keep moisture out of the socket..But place it around the outside of the bulb and not the bottom where the contacts are at.Get this at a parts store.hgm20002000@yahoo.comshare some encouraging words vb

Audi A4 1996 Tail Lights??
This sounds like a stupid question but I can't figure out how to change my Tail Light on my 1996 Audi A4. I can pull the %26quot;Lighting Cluster%26quot; off but that only gives me access to the Brake, Blinker, Reverse and Fog Light. there are two wires going from the Cluster to the light assembly that goes to the Tail Light. The only problem is you can't get to the light from the backside and I can't pull the Tail light / assembly out the little hole it is stuck in. I took the whole Light assembly out but the light assembly can't be seperated from the back part of it which is plastic and has some kind of Adhesive sealing the two. Any Ideas on how to change the Bulb? Its very frustrated because I have a %26quot;Haynes Manual%26quot; and the Owners manual and it doesn't show these tail lights it shows the Brake and Tail light as the same bulb. HELP ME PLEASE!!!! My inspection is coming up!!!!!
Audi A4 1996 Tail Lights??
Please take it to a dealer. That tail light assembly is sealed except for the ports through which the bulbs enter. If you are not able to get to the tail light, a professional needs to take a look at it.
I wish I had better information, but it should not be a so difficult to extract the tail light bulb.
Good Luck.
Audi A4 1996 Tail Lights??
For the life of me I could not figure out why you could not extract the tail light bulb. This makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation.
It is usual for the brake and tail light to be the one bulb if you look you will see it has two elements in the bulb
if you can take out the brake light, it IS the same as the tail light. the bulb has 2 filaments in it. one comes on with the lights, the other comes on with the brakes. the socket with the bulb should do a quarter turn and come out of the assembly, or if i remember, it may have a back piece that comes off the back of the assembly. if needbe, you can take it to your local autoparts store (advance or autozone) and see if they can help you out
The brake light bulb is a twin filament bulb.

if you can take out the brake light, it IS the same as the tail light. the bulb has 2 filaments in it. one comes on with the lights, the other comes on with the brakes. the socket with the bulb should do a quarter turn and come out of the assembly, or if i remember, it may have a back piece that comes off the back of the assembly. if needbe, you can take it to your local autoparts store (advance or autozone) and see if they can help you out
The brake light bulb is a twin filament bulb.
When you have your brake pads and rotors changed do they disconnect the brake light?
My tail lights are working but my brake lights are not after having my brakes changed
When you have your brake pads and rotors changed do they disconnect the brake light?
No, Most cars have a switch on the brake pedal itself. Your switch might have went bad or you could have an electrical problem.
When you have your brake pads and rotors changed do they disconnect the brake light?
No? That is weird
that lights have nothing to do with the pads and rotor change.
2 things to try.. change bulbs.
if that doesn't help, then it's your stoplight switch, depending on the car, it's attached to the master cylinder or topside of the brake pedal.
Oddly enough, there's really no connection between the brake pads and shoes and the brake lights. The lights simply work off a switch connected to the brake pedal.
Check all of the fuses first, and they're OK, check the switch and associated circuits.

2007 Impala tail light problem?
2007 Impala right tail light lights up when the car is turned on, but does not light up for any other function. (i.e. brake signal, turn signal, etc.). I already checked to see if there were any blown fuses and I did not see any. I also wiggled the wires to see if that had any effect, but I did not notice any change. Any ideas? Thanks!
2007 Impala tail light problem?
The brake and turn signal are lit by the same filament of the same bulb. Probably just burnt out. Either replace it (a #3057 bulb), or buy a 12v circuit tester, and check if you have power going to it.
There is a separate fuse for that, marked RT T/SIG. Go here, and download a PDF copy of your Owner's Manual, if you don't have the original;
http://www.gm.com/gmownercenter/chevy/
There's a diagram (a little hard to read), that shows where they all are. Page 403.
Doesn't seem likely the bulb socket would be corroded on a 3 year old car!

most likely a faulty bulb socket.

Why are both my tail lights not working ?
Hello, I have a 1993 Lexus LS400 and both tail lights stopped working about 5 days ago. I checked the fuses and they're all good, and I also changed all the bulbs so its not the bulbs. My break lights still work and my turn signals and my license plate light all still work, but when I have my headlights on my tail lights don't turn on so I can't drive at night, especially since I already received a Fix It Ticket. But yea, any suggestions of what I can do to get this fixed?
Why are both my tail lights not working ?
You shold check the alternator or the battery because when your headlights are turned on it could be draining the required energy to light up all of your lights at the same time from either one of these two things. Hope this was helpfull.

Why are both my tail lights not working ?
call the ambulance.
first you can get the fix it ticket taken care of during the day so they will not know it doesnt work with the head lights on. then i suspect a crossed wire or short. were you moving or carrying anything in the trunk that could have damaged the wire for the lights.
Recheck the fuses first off. You are looking for a fuse marked Parking lamps. I think the lexus has a breaker under the hood for parking lamps also, but I might be mistaken. Try turning just your park lamps on and check your front park lights to see if they are working, as well as side marker lamps. As a last resort before going to a service center, recheck the tail lights. Sometimes brake and turn signals bulbs are seperate from park lights. I know I have replaced the wrong bulb before with a similar problem.

When the 1995 mustang came out, why did Ford change the design of the tail lights for the 1996 modle and up?
They actually made the horizontal lights in 94 and 95 and then switched to verticle when the new modular engine came about. the horizontals are specific to the 5.0's and also the garbage v6's
When the 1995 mustang came out, why did Ford change the design of the tail lights for the 1996 modle and up?
Why Ford switched from horizontal to vertical on the taillights? The vertical resembled the original 64 Mustang taillights. IMO they also look much better.
I think the horizontal design was 94 and 95.

2001 Cavalier tail light problems?
My Passenger brake/turn signals keep going out on me. The only way im getting around is buying and replacing the bulb every week or so. Ive replaced my socket, got a new flasher and changed all my fuses. I dont have a clue what it is. Its only the rear passenger tail light thats doing this. The bulbs are either no longer working, or they are getting fried. Help please ive gotten 2 warnings and a ticket already because this stupid junk.
2001 Cavalier tail light problems?
it actually might be the wiring system in the tail light shorting out which could cause it to be blowing like that another thing you can do is just take it to the chevy dealer and have them fix it but i used to drive a cobalt and its the same thing its a chevy there pieces of crap haha but hope it helps
2001 Cavalier tail light problems?
I'd say you may have a bad socket or leaking tail light assembly. If it's leaking, water can get in on a hot tail/brake/turn light bulb and cause it to burn out prematurely. If the socket is bad, it could be shorting out and causing the problem.
I had a similar problem and had to pull steering wheel and replace the turn signal control wire harness The only light that was working for me was the third light (brake light) in back.

How do I change the rear turn signal bulb in a 1999 Subaru Legacy wagon?
Found how to change the tail light in the tailgate but I cant get to the turn signal in the body...
How do I change the rear turn signal bulb in a 1999 Subaru Legacy wagon?
Check your owner's manual. We just did my wife's 2008, and there was a diagram in the manual that showed how to pull this off (Yours may be different).
On the 2008, with the tailgate opened, there are three narrow slots between the black plastic cowl inside the door jamb and the actual tail light assembly. You put a blade screwdriver in each of these, one at a time, %26quot;with a piece of electrical tape on it to prevent scratching,%26quot; and gently pry the cowl off. This exposes some screws that you remove to release the tail light assembly from the car. Once that's done you can see where you twist the plastic bulb holder to release it from the light assembly. Replace the bulb, re-install the holder in the assembly, re-attach the assembly to the car and the cowl to the assembly, and you're done.
How do I change the rear turn signal bulb in a 1999 Subaru Legacy wagon?
There is a tall and narrow removable access panel just inside, just behind the tail light assembly. The bulbs are easily found and remove with a quarter twist counter clockwise.

Kia sportage tail light?
how do i change the running light on my 2000 kia sportage? i have no idea how the back comes off and i dont want to break it
Kia sportage tail light?
Check the inside of the trunk and look for the interior trim panel that hides the back of the light. From there maybe you can see how to do it. The socket that holds the light may need a 1/4 turn to remove it from the assembly.

96 Mustang tail lights?
Does anyone know how to change the tail light bulb in a 96 Mustang?
96 Mustang tail lights?
This is a really crappy design by Ford for a should be easy job.
Remove the trunk lining by the light, just peel it back far enough to work.
You'll see 4 or 5 nuts on studs. Remove the nuts.
The light will now drop out of the metal housing.
Replace bulb like you would on any other car.
Put light back in
Replace nuts.
Put lining back
Job done

Tail light problem cbr f2. The tail light on my cbr f2 wont come on.?
I have checked the fuses and the bulbs no wires seem to be loose. The brake light and tail light use the same bulbs and brake lights work fine. Signal lights both work (no front signal lights) Also the front headlight has been changed and there is a green and red harness under the headlight that is not hooked to anything and have no place to hook to. Thanks for any info.
Tail light problem cbr f2. The tail light on my cbr f2 wont come on.?
The tail light gets it power from the ignition switch.
Use a 12v test light.
Check for power at both terminals of the taillight fuse.
If the fuse isn't getting power, the ignition switch can be at fault.parameter advise for birth control

How to replace the tail light on a 2001 Passat?
It's a 2001.5 Passat and the light that needs to be changed is the driver's side tail light. If you're familiar with this model then you know why that information is important. There's a little shelving fixture built into the driver's side of the trunk that blocks the tail lights. I cant get around it and i cant seem to remove it and I DON'T want to take my car to a shop to get a light replaced. If you know how to do this help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
How to replace the tail light on a 2001 Passat?
You have to remove the inside trim to get access to the bolts holding the tail light in position.

Tail light and shift lock fuse keep burning out?
Ok so in my moms car her 92 civic 4dr. The fuse keeps burning out
I put a 20 amp in already they keep burning out all the time I
changed the fuse and it burnt out again when I drive this car
I'd like no tickets when I drive it how do I fix this?
Tail light and shift lock fuse keep burning out?
If you keep blowing fuses, there is SOMETHING wrong with the circuit the fuse protects. It could be a short, or a faulty component. Someone will have to LOOK at the car to determine the actual problem.

You have a bare wire touching something, somewhere. Finding shorts i no easy job.

How do i change a brake light in a dodge caravan 2003?
how do i get the tail light lens off?
How do i change a brake light in a dodge caravan 2003?
When you open the tail gate there should be either the
Philips (star) screws of two black plugs. To remove the
black plastic plug use a pair of pliers grip it firmly and
give them a pull (do not twist) they are just a push pin.
The lens will then basic just come off. The socket will
twist counter clockwise, the bulb (part#3057) will just
pull out. Then the reverse to re install. HTH!
Good luck.
How do i change a brake light in a dodge caravan 2003?
Ok, I'm not sure if I can be any help, but I'll try..... Most lens are complete %26quot;housing%26quot; units that the bulbs insert and twist into. The housings can usually be removed by loosening a couple of screws from the inside of the van. (around the housing area).
If you still have problems, then go to the following link. Becoming a member is free and you can get all sorts of information about your specific vehichle. http://www.automotiveforums.com/
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Raise the liftgate and there should two screws holding the lamp housings to the van, (this is the industry standard). Pull the housing off and twist off the bulb sockets. The bulbs are a bayonet design so they should pull out and push in. Use a silicone grease on the contacts to prevent corrosion. Ease the locating tabs on the housings with the body and install with the screws. Hope this helps.

How hard is it to change out a head light switch in a'89 Ford truck.?
The problem started out with not having tail lights and interior dash lights. The head lights were still working. The brake lights still work. I was told by an experienced mechanic of many years that the problem could be the head light switch. Any ideas anyone? I would appreciate them!
How hard is it to change out a head light switch in a'89 Ford truck.?
Those don't have the release buttons on the back of the switch. The knobs are held on by a triangular spring clip. Look around the rear of the knob and you should see a small cu-out area. Use a hooked tool to release the clip while pulling off the knob. The ALLDATA instructions for the rest of the job is below. Look real hard at the wiring connections for any signs of overheating or melted plastic. You may need to replace the connector.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove knobs from headlight switch, windshield wiper switch and fog light switch (if equipped). Use a suitable hook tool to release each knob lock tab.
Remove steering column shroud, then the cluster finish panel assembly, Fig. 6.
Remove switch attaching nut, Fig. 6.
Disconnect electrical connector from switch and remove switch from vehicle.
Reverse procedure to install.

real hard take it to some person that can do it
hey it aint bad, just watch the pull knob, it has a release on the backside and if you hose it or strip the plastic, it'll rattle and never stay on. i think you just push the wedge in and pull the knob off. when you have it off, ive always rebent the keeper so it would grip tight. its not fun with your head under the dash. if you drop the 4 bolts on the steering column, you can move it sideways. then id pull the seat, and lay on my back. this is how i got the pawl and quadrant down to 2 hrs for a 5.0.
Yes it is definatley your headlight switch. If your head light switch is mounted on your dash......no problem a quick 15-20 minute job whick I think you have. If you have your light switch on the steering column with a lever like a turn signal. Your looking at about an hours work with the correct special tools. Don't try it yourself if it is in the steering column. Good luck.
Fords are the worst piece of crap vehicles ever. I had a headlight problem on an 86 Mustang and an 89 Aerostar. Two friends of mine had a similar problem on a Thunderbird and on an Escort.
I replaced the switch on the Mustang and the wiring harness on the Aerostar. I'm not a mechanic and I don't know much about cars, but I looked over the situation and did both jobs myself. The wiring harness would have been a very expensive job had it not been for my being able to find one at a junkyard. Good luck and I'll NEVER buy another Ford.
Its Pretty easy... you need to get to where you can place your hand behind the dash where the switch is located on the switch there is a spring loaded button...
depressing it while gently pushing back and forth slighlty on the knob (sometimes rotating the knob like you're turnin op or down the lights also will disengage it try both one will work)
you pull to turn the lights on should cause this knob with the actuator rod attached to pull loose from the switch...
next at the location the rod came out of there is a collar (usually Chromed) with 3 -4 notches in it this must be rotated counter clock wise about 6 turns or so until the switch comes free from the dash..
now unplug old switch from harness and plug in the new one... Place new switch upto the hole start the collar (retainer) by rotating it clockwise this time...
be sure to align up the locator notch in dash with the locator tab on switch now tighten collar until tight....
take actuator rod and place into the hole and push straight forward till you feel it start to bottom then push just a little more ...
you should feel and hear a slight click as the retainer sets on the grooved area at the tip of the rod...
try pulling the knob out to see if lights work... Lights work!!
Congratulations you just changed your first headlight switch and saved yourself at least $12-15 to pay a mechanic...

Tail light on my 09 ninja 250 not working correctly?
I just added a fender eliminator kit to my bike and ever since my taillight as been stuck on the %26quot;on%26quot; position, it's like I always have the brake on. The only wires I changed were the ones to my tag light and it works. Any one have a idea what is goin on? Tail light and dash light out '97?
My dashboard light (where the spedometer is) and my tail lights are out. The tail light works when i press on the brake. I changed the fuse (which was blown) and they still dont work. What else can i check and fix? And how do i do it? I have no idea what im doing and dont have the money to take it somewhere.
Tail light and dash light out '97?
fuse blown, might have also blown out bulbs when the fuse blew out, check might be more than one fuse
Tail light and dash light out '97?
Did you change the bulbs? That is the most likely next step. It sounds like you are indicating the brake lights are functional but the either the reverse light or turn lights are not functioning. Nonetheless you have multiple bulbs un the tail light assembly so one of them may be out. As for the dash first check the dimmer for the dash lights and see if that has been turned down, if all the lights on the dash are out it is more likely a fuse or other electrical problem, if some lights work and some don't it is more likely to be a bad bulb. Dash lights are more difficult to change but not impossible. Good luck!
The brake lights sounds simple. If it works when you apply the brakes, you've used the wrong kind of bulb. Some bulb s have two filaments, one that is one when you have your head lights on and the other when you apply the brakes. Your nearest auto parts store can resolve that quickly. As far as your dash light goes, thats gonna be tricky. Check again to assure you used the right fuse. If you did use the right fuse you might need to take apart the dash and replace the bulb which can be time consuming and tricky. If its not in your budget, you can learn to live without that little light. Buena Suerte.
Check and see if the fuse is blown again but before you replace it walk around the car and see if any of the parking lights in the front or rear have water in them or were hit and broken, or see if there is rust in the bulb sockets which will cause a short. This includes the side marker bulbs which are on the same circuit in most vehicles. If you don't find a problem take all the running lights out and put a new fuse in and see if it blows or not. If the fuse doesn't blow put one bulb at a time back in their sockets and make sure they light up. When one lights and goes out right away you've found the shorted circuit. Keep in mind there may be something else in the same circuit, maybe a cigarette lighter etc. which could be the problem. Any loose change in an accessory socket?Keep looking you'll find it.
