I am finding myself changing the bottom left bulb in my right tail light every 3 months or when it rains heavy. Obviously, water is getting into the tail light. I have taken it apart and looked, it seems to be coming through the rubber that goes around the tail light. Where would I find a replacement? Is it hard to replace it yourself? I would rather replace the whole thing that patch it b/c it's begun to be a burden to do this every other month. please help me. any advice would be okay!
Also- I have researched this problem for almost a year now. There seems to be problems with ALL models of Malibus starting from as early as 1998 to present with this exact same issue. Why hasnt chevy issued a recall? I mean...Come ON! Hah! Can any one tell me why they haven't done this? I've already reported the issue with them, twice.....They just report it..I laugh everytime I see a Malibu on the road with the same problem.

I'd second the suggestion to drill a SMALL hole in the tail light. Best practice is to remove the tail light, turn it upside down, and drill the tiny hole in the bottom of the light, making sure the water drains outside of the body of the car. If you drill it far enough inboard, it won't even be visible when the light is reinstalled. I used to have a Pontiac with this same problem. This solution worked very well for me.

if the dealer wont do anything, you can always drill a little hole on the bottom of the light cover to let the water drain. i would call the head office to complain about the problem.
If it were my car I would buy a tube of clear silicon adhesive and smear a thin bead around the rubber gasket while you have it apart. I use this adhesive for many things. It costs about $4. at the auto supply.
