Anyone know how to go about changing the tail/brake light in rear of nissan altima 2005?
I have a 2003, and changed it myself, the 2005 model is different, but not by much. It is in the trunk. Directly behind the taillight there should be a hand twistable plastic bolt to take off holding the carpet to the back of the taillight backing, then a philips screw driver can remove the light, it pops off completely from the outside. You can get the replacement bulbs at Walmart, it was pretty easy for me, and I am not good at this stuff.|||I am not 100% sure about that car but most cars you need to change the lights from inside the trunk,, open the trunk and there should be some kind of protecting padding over the area of the lights remove that padding and you will have access to the lighting fixtures.....|||go to a gas station with a mechanic they do it for free and watch so you will know next time its not hard. or even a parts store will too.|||Open the back hatch or trunk look behind a panel which covers the access to the lights, twist open the one which is out and replace as required. If this does not solve the problem go to a reputable shop you have a wiring problem Also check the fuses under the dash

Inside the trunk, where the lamp is located, there are a couple of thumbscrews that hold the trunk liner in place. Remove them and pull the liner away to reveal the back of the taillight. On the light socket there may be a lock tab which will have to be depressed before the socket can be twisted out. Once removed from the lens assembly you will see the bulb in its socket. A small flat blade screwdriver may be required to remove the bulb from the socket. Gently pry out the bulb at the plastic base only. DO NOT PRY ON THE GLASS!!! Make sure you replace the bulb with the same type and wattage. The GE number will be marked on the plastic base of the bulb. i.e. 4157, 3157, etc.
Install the new bulb and check to see if it works before reinstalling everything.
Assembly is the reverse of the above.

GM will replace anything (except wiper blades) for 3 years or 36,000 miles bumper to bumper.

it seems to be the same light as the brakes tried changing light bulbs, brakes still worked but not tail light. changed fuse from inside car, but it blew right away. all lights work exept tail. please help|||it might be the tail light socket. Look at the metal connectors inside the socket and see if they are discolored, it could be a sign that it is faulty. hmmm but then again you changed the fuse and it blew...you might have a short. Thats a tough one, you should take it to a electrician|||if you replace the fuse and it blows so quickly, than that means there is a short. you can find this by checking the integrity of all the wires leading to the broken fixture. anything that could have happend to pinch the wires to make a direct connection? like an accident? or anytihng that could cause damage to the wires... find them quickly by following the wire from the fixture back. usually shorts will happen close to the fixture or the fuse box... let me know

I%26#039;ve changed the headlights but never the brake lights or directional on my 96 camaro, and now I need to do both. There is no obvious way to access the lights to change them out. Can anybody provide direction on changing the brake and directional lamps? Thank.|||IN the boot or trunk... pull the carpet away from the rear and you should find 3 or 4 large plastic wing nuts holding the entire assembly for each side... remove these wing nuts and then pull the complete lamp assm out of the body then the bulbs will be VERy evident..

Typo sorry|||it should all take less than two hours to do if hes good 45 minutes. give him 30 bucks and you pay for the parts.|||Probably 10 minutes work for Spark Plugs if they check the gaps and 5 minutes for the tail light. It depends what your local hourly rate is but quarter of an hour plus the parts. This is a small job and some places have a minimum charge.
I would be guessing in the UK approximately 拢15-20 including parts, if using a local garage and not a main dealer. You have to depress on 2 spring clips on either side of the bulb holder and pull all the bulbs out. Be careful to pull out straight because you can break all the other bulbs.
Press down on the bulb and turn to remove it. That%26#039;s it replace the bulb and push back the bulb holder.

I know I am dumb, but how and the heck do you change a tail light bulb on a GMC 2000 Yukon?
When I use the left turn signal, I get a rapid flash. The front signal works, but tha rear and left rear brake light does not. I went to Pep Boys and bought replacement bulbs, but the heck if I can figure out how to get the lense cover off so I can replace the blown bulb.
Anybody have any experience? There does not seem to be any screw holes on the outside -- Is this a dealer or repair shop job? I need some help, any comments are appreciated and I feel like a goof for asking such a simple question.

Remove them, and give it a tug.
The bulb holders need to be turned about 1\4 turn, and pulled out.|||With that kind of gas milage, a tail light is the least of your concerns!|||YOU ARE NOT DUMB, That would be kinda difficult if you have never did it before and if you are in a rush. Just wait until you are less aggravated by it chill out for a moment, Then If and only if your feel you can take care of it then try again, If not just take it to Auto Zone when they are not so busy, And one of the guys in there will change it for ya. Unless you know someone else that will do it. I watch some one do that sort of thing before and It was pretty darn work, In the dark to but we got through with it. So just try that. Take Care|||yea

I bought some of the Euro Tail lights to put on. I just cant seem to get the old lights to pop off though. I unscrewed the 3 screws holding it in. I have a 2007 mustang with an out tail light. I tried replacing the bulb but it still wont work. What could be wrong. Its the drivers side rear light bulb.|||replace the pigtail (connector) or even try a different bulb sometimes bulbs have a nasty habit of just saying %26quot;time to commit suicide%26quot; and just jump off the shelf and get damaged in the process.

I have a 1993 Buick Century. The back has light panels across the whole car. My left brake light went out. Does anyone know how I change the bulb? Do I have the take the whole light panel off? It is one big piece so you do need to take all the nuts off to access the bulbs. The 2005 Chevy Cobalt LT has a single, triangular tail lamp assembly on each rear corner of the vehicle. (Not the more common pair of circular lights on other models.)
Opening the trunk reveals two screws attaching the tail lamp assembly to the car. Removing the two screws allows the assembly to wiggle a little bit, but the assembly cannot be pulled away from the car to disconnect the wiring harness or access the bulbs.
The Pioneer sub woofer limits how far I can pull the trunk carpet wall back, but I have felt for any other retention clips, screws, or wire harnesses. I cannot find anything else to disconnect.
I have gradually increased my pulling force with no success. I have tried sliding the assembly in different directions to un-lock any slide-and-lock style retainers with no success. I have tried removing the passenger-side tail light assembly, but have the same problem.|||It%26#039;s under warranty take it to your local dealership and say fix it leave the subs they have to work around it.|||take the sub box out twist th harness and the bulb and it should come out|||Hello fellow Cobalt owner. Some one randomly busted out my Right tail light. I have an estimate to order the parts. By the way its just not the light but the whole covering for the light. Luckily the light still works for now. Just turn the plastic piece and the light bulb should just slide out. Pull the light out (they dont screw in) and replace it. Then put everything back together in reverse|||take it to auto zone 9 times out of 10 they will put it in for free and they have the tools if needed to get it out should get no more then like 5 bucks

I have a 1999 Suzuki GSX 750 F which is in pretty good condition... for some reason the tail light fuse keeps blowing (and also when this goes the instrument panel lights do too - I assume they%26#039;re on the same circuit) When I change tail light fuse, the tail light and instrument panel backlight come back on... this doesn%26#039;t affect the head light, which works fine, or the brake light which also is fine...any ideas why the tail light fuse keeps blowing... and how can I fix it?|||Got to be a short to earth somewhere either the panel lights or the tail light,try the tail light first try moving wires about with ignition on and a new fuse in and see if it blows,then try the other way with the panel lights,all a process of elimination.|||You%26#039;re in for some trial and error. Thought it would be easy but can%26#039;t work out how to get to the bulb or get plastic light covers off. Any clues you lot?|||They are all wrong. Open the boot. Working from inside the boot, there are 2 round plastic covers top and bottom where the light fitting are on the body. prise out the covers with a small screwdriver. you will then find little metal nuts that hold the light fitting in place. undo these nuts anti clockwise. they are usually only hand tight, however I have come across some that had to be undone with a 14mm socket or a pliers. Once thes nuts are removed, the whole light fitting can be pulled away from the body of the car. You the squeeze the plastic lugs and pull the bulb holder away from the light Lens.|||Well if you can see screws on the cover then you remove the cover and change the bulb if no the you must change the whole set.

Yes, pull the trunk liner back out of the way (just enough to get to it)... It%26#039;s held in by a couple wing nuts, and maybe a little assembly glue. Just pull all the nuts, and pull... just don%26#039;t get carried away and damage anything.

The warning light illuminated on my 03 plate vectra to change the brake light bulb. I bought and changed the bulb. The brake light still does not work and the warning light is still illuminated on the dash. Everything has been put back together properly and the fuses have been checked. Any other ideas what it could be?|||check the wireing plug on the rear of the lamp holder...a bad connection can cause this...|||When you replace the bulb the connections on the bulb holder may have a tiny bit of corrosion / oxidation on the contacts. Scrape this area with a screwdriver and retry.
If still does not work test if a voltage is present across the bulb holder - if not test for a voltage on wires leading into bulb holder etc working backwards until a voltage is found.|||HELLO

I need help changing my tail light on the L side in my %26#039;98 Honda Passport. I get it almost out and then it won%26#039;t budge. I was going to take it to someone to fix, but it seems dumb if I can do it myself. It looks like there is a metal piece it%26#039;s getting stuck on. I%26#039;ve removed the 3 screws needed. Thanks for your help!|||Usually there are two or three screws that are visible and then there is kind of like a wedge that is not visible that needs to be forced out. Take the screws out like you did and just pull it out, if you cant do that just go to a shop, dont be embarrassed because you cant get it off.
